Monomad- Umbrella Family
Here is my first entry for the #monomad daily challenge: a light painting from 2012 that is still among my favorites.
The statue by Frans Kokshoorn is entitled "Singing in the rain" and is located in Voorburg, The Netherlands.
I was using a simple LED thumb light to draw sketchy lines following the outlines of the statue. My intention was to make it messy, give it a sense of cartoonish motion which I think worked very well in black and white. I used a VariND filter at almost almost ND400 because the scene was brightly lit with sodium lamps which made everything orange. That was another reason to go black and white. This was a 64 second exposure.
