Neo Silicate
Island Study
Here's another example of a simple cross-section animation for light painting that I used in different ways.
This is the more common use scenario for these animations: moving a screen playing the animation (in this case my mobile) across the frame in a long exposure. This technique can be great to make animations of virtual 3D objects but with an analog imperfect feel to them that is very difficult to achieve purely in postproduction. Essentially rendering them with real light hitting a real sensor.
for even more imperfections and shiny happenings, I projected it on moving sequin fabric.
